Description
The Indonesia Business Council for Sustainable Development (IBCSD) is an association of several companies operating in Indonesia with a shared commitment to promote sustainable development through sustainable economic growth, ecological balance, and social growth.
Energy is part ofa series of IBCSD agenda that is a foundation towards a prosperous society with natural resources still available. To that end, the IBCSD initiated an energy conservation program with one of the primary purpose to provide electricity for remote areas by utilizing renewable energy sources.
In its practice, IBCSD is working together with Jembatan Tiga, one of the Penabalu Foundation working unit, as a the technical team and community development in the field.
The location is in Pakandangan Village, Pakenjeng Subdistrict, Garut District (27.52221 LS and E107.662587 BT). From Garut it can be reached by land travel in ± 2.5 hours, with a distance of ± 73 km. The kampong is within the Cimareme hamlet, Tegalgede village and bordering with the Condong plantation. South Garut alone is a distrcit in West Java that is famous with its hilly nature and a relatively low population density. Some of its areas are, until now, still not connected to the electricity grid of PLN.

This program is supported by Garuda Indonesia and BNI 46 through IBCSD based on contract dated 10 January 2014 with a total budget of IDR 763,525,300 for a period starting from 10 January 2014 until 31 July 2015.
