Tropical Forest Conservation Act (TFCA) – Kalimantan

Description

The Tropical Forest Conservation Act (TFCA) program is a collaboration between the Government of Indonesia and the Government of the United States, in partnership with The Nature Conservancy (TNC) and the World Wide Fund for Nature-Indonesia (WWF) Foundation, which is administered by the KEHATI Foundation. This program is part of a debt swap scheme for forest conservation programs, particularly in Kalimantan under an agreement signed on 29 September 2011 in Jakarta.

This program facilitates the conservation, protection, restoration, and sustainable use of tropical forests program in Indonesia by supporting the Berau Forest Carbon Program-BFCP in Berau (East Kalimantan) and the Heart of Borneo (HoB) program in West Kutai (East Kalimantan) and Kapuas Hulu (West Kalimantan).

Most of TFCA Kalimantan funds will be used to support programs implemented by non-governmental organizations (NGOs) that will act as a catalyst for synergy between the three development sectors-government, private sector, and civil society.

The program is designed with a series of activities that seek to improve all aspects of the management of non-profit organization that will include institutional aspects, program management aspects, financial management aspects, communication and knowledge management aspects, up until the fundraising aspect of the organization’s resources.

PONTIANAK: People Resources and Conservation Foundation (PRCF) Indonesia, dan Gemawan Institute.

SAMARINDA: Mulawarman University–Social Forestry and Human Biosphere Unit (BIOMA).

Funding

This program is supported by TFCA Kalimantan based on contract dated 30 April 2014 with a total budget of IDR 3,612,050,000 with program starting from 1 June 2014 until 31 December 2015.
