Indonesia is home to more than 6,000 inhabited islands, covering a total land area of about 190 million hectares. Approximately 29% of this land is used for agriculture. The vast geographic and cultural diversity in Indonesia demonstrates the presence of diverse local knowledge and food culture related to the food system. From Sabang to Merauke, each island and region has its own uniqueness and traditions in food preparation and natural resource management.<\/p>\n<p>The Indonesian government acknowledges the importance of developing a sustainable food system and achieving the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). To achieve this, the Ministry of National Development Planning (BAPPENAS) has played a role in facilitating a series of multi-stakeholder dialogues, both at the national and regional levels, to develop a strategic document for the transformation of the national food system as part of the United Nations Food Systems Summit 2021 process. The ultimate goal of transforming the food system in Indonesia is to move towards a healthy, resilient, just, and sustainable food system. Additionally, it is crucial for Indonesia to consider its diversity and inclusivity as an archipelagic nation. Respecting and leveraging the cultural diversity, traditions, and local knowledge will be key to the success in achieving inclusive and sustainable food system transformation goals.<\/p>\n<p>However, the participation of youth in the transformation of the food system is still quite limited. Therefore, there is a need to create space and momentum for youth participation in the food system transformation. CTSS IPB proposes the &#8216;Youth Food System Dialogues and Movements 2023&#8217; as a series of events to organize and facilitate youth participation in the food system movement.
