An earthquake reoccurred in magnitude of 7.4 followed, shook the Palu and Donggala areas at 17.02 WIB with the epicenter in 27 km northeast of Donggala with a depth of 10 km, followed by a tsunami hit the coast of Talise in the city of Palu and the west coast of Donggala, and the altitude tsunami waves were noted between 1-4 meters. Until October 5, 2018, there were 437 aftershocks with decreasing intensity. The Indonesian National Disaster Management Authority (BNPB) has informed that the number of victims due to the earthquake, tsunami and liquefaction reached 2,073 people died, 680 people were missing, 11,000 people were injured and 78,994 people were displaced.<\/p>\n<p>This program is designed to conduct market assessment and analysis in relation to emergency response to earthquakes, tsunamis and liquefaction in Palu, Sigi and Donggala. The program is divided into three main activities including:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Market Analysis for All Disaster Affected Areas. <\/strong>Market system assessment and analysis activities are carried out using the Rapid Assessment of Markets (RAM) tool, with the aim of increasing the effectiveness and efficiency of the initial humanitarian actions taken to ensure the survival of affected communities; to protect food security and their livelihoods.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Emergency Response Support. <\/strong>This activity is in the form of support for disaster victims, including temporary shelter shelters, sanitation, emergency schools and school equipment, as well with support in the form of nutrition and health posts for toddlers, pregnant and lactating mothers.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Recovery of the Post-Disaster Community Economic System. <\/strong>This activity will focus more on developing an initial planning system for restoring the livelihoods of affected communities. Further, this activity will also invite the community and village government to develop a community-based disaster risk reduction framework that includes the preparation of indicative disaster response maps and community-based disaster risk management SOPs.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>This activities has become part of an emergency needs assessment after the disaster and the results will be included in the initial response analysis that will support the aid intervention.
