January 30, 2024 – March 04, 2024

Description

The Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation (BOSF) introduces its latest project, “Community-based Forest Management and Improved Livelihood of IPLCs” (CISU IPLC), an initiative implemented with strong support from Save the Orangutan (StO) and funding provided by Civilsamfund I Udvikling (CISU) Denmark. This project is designed to address the complex issue of resource management by traditional communities in the Central and East Kalimantan provinces.

In its implementation, the project involves 19 villages/communities spread across three program areas, namely Katingan Regency, Kapuas Regency, Barito Selatan Regency, and Kutai Timur Regency. Each program area, such as the Nyaru Menteng Program, the Orangutan Habitat Rehabilitation Program (PRHO), and the Mawas Conservation Program, is directed towards achieving optimal results in line with their respective local contexts.

The main objective of this project is to enhance the capacity of indigenous communities and local communities in rights-based advocacy, the implementation of sustainable livelihoods, and the strengthening of partner capacities to collaborate strategically with the integration of conservation and development. Routine evaluations will serve as a crucial tool to ensure goal achievement, identify obstacles, and formulate adequate improvement recommendations.

In this project, the Penabulu Foundation is engaged as a consulting partner collaborating with the Borneo Orangutan Foundation (BOS Foundation) to assist in evaluating the CISU IPLC project with the following objectives:

  • Assessing program achievements and their impacts, referencing and comparing them against the program’s logical framework.
  • Identifying challenges and obstacles, including program responses to overcome them, as well as program sustainability strategies.
  • Identifying best practices and lessons learned for program implementation improvement.
