Description
ICCO together with Swisscontact have conducted analysis and development of design intervention for potential fisheries sector in Indonesia in several provinces targeted as part of Introducing Market Development to Indonesia (IMDI), a project funded by AusAID AIPD Rural.
For the fisheries sector in Situbondo, the intervention program is designed to develop the cultivation of grouper cage and promotion of financial services for cage management. The aim is to provide food source for a year and income for fishermen, especially for the four to six months of non-fishing season. This intervention will also address the shortage of supply for exporters of live coral fish such as grouper.
In this program, Penabalu will work together with the ICCO Field Office in Situbondo, LLPNU, and KPI East Java. Penabalu’s intervention in this program is the development of financial services product model for fishermen, development of Fishfund with Bank Jatim, and capacity building for fishermen groups and other actors in the market chain of groupers.
