Description
Civil Society Organizations have grown and adapted themselves along with the dynamics development of Indonesia in the transition period after the New Order collapsed. The transitional period, which then marked by the growth of ‘a thousand buds’ and the growth of new civil society organizations, with a diversity of positions, shapes, and issues. Civil Society Organizations grow with funding from donor agencies.
Indonesia today has become one of the Middle Income Country. Global conditions in such a short time have caused the map and pattern of support from the donor agencies to change. Many donors have begun to reduce the focus of their work in Indonesia to help other countries that are more in need. This condition causes many organizations in Indonesia for being not ready to face the change and getting in apparent death or increasing “turn out” from organizations that do not have donor to organization that still get fund support.
Strengthening the role of civil society organizations in sustainable development clearly requires resource support. However, indeed, how should we look at this ‘totality’ of relationship? What are the main resources in the effort to oversee joint initiatives? Resources can no longer simply be defined as financial support. Public participation and involvement, even now has been much more valuable. Partnerships, networks, alliances or syndicates have become strategic demands. Resource support from CSR funds, or community self-help support and public fundraising results will be an alternative gap.
Penabulu in cooperation with Robert Bosh Stiftung conducted Training on Resource Mobilization for 90 Civil Society Organizations in 6 Regions in Indonesia including Banda Aceh, Yogyakarta, Bogor, Balikpapan, Makassar and Lombok. This training aims to provide knowledge and improve the ability of the organization, especially for leaders in the mobilization of resources as an effort to sustain the work of the organization.
