Description

As a continuation of the previous program, HIVOS ROSEA continued to provide support for capacity building of financial management of non-profit organizations in Indonesia by supporting the research on financial management capacity of non-profit organizations in Indonesia, and development of consulting assistance unit.

During the research phase, questionnaires was sent to 1,012 institutions, with a total return of 108 and from that number 83 was clarified and processed.

Status mapping of financial management of non-profit organizations in Indonesia is then able to show that non-profit organizations have special characteristics. These special characteristics produce a special model of financial management also. Financial accountability of non-profit organizations will rely on the strength of internal control systems and performance of organization financial management, that must be developed specifically in accordance with the special characteristics of non-profit organizations. Risk assessment and determination of controlling activities will be key to the development of an internal control system.

In addition, financial accountability of non-profit organizations will be strongly determined by several supporting factors of different management performance, namely human resources, infrastructure and financial management instruments. All of these financial accountability elements of non-profit organizations must be understood and developed sistematically, as an effort to maintain organization sustainability and in the end, as part of the efforts to strengthen the position and role of civil society in Indonesia.
